"Survivor: Africa" champ Ethan Zohn's cancer is in remission, says his girlfriend Jenna Morasca, who won "Survivor: The Amazon."
"A few weeks ago, we got his first clean CT scan," Jenna tells People.com. "I cannot begin to explain the happiness and relief we felt."
Ethan, who battled the African elements and outwitted opponents to win the hit CBS reality show in 2002, began undergoing treatments for stage two Hodgkin's disease last year.
"Now we can officially call him 'in remission,'" Jenna tells People.com. "We were so nervous for this test because good news on this test meant we could start our lives again."
The couple celebrated Ethan's great news by taking a vacation to Disney World in Florida. Next, he'll tape some shows for the new network Outside Television, and then venture with Jenna to South Africa in June "to work with the charity he founded with his 'Survivor' winnings, Grassroot Soccer … and watch the World Cup games," Jenna tells the Web site.
"Ethan says he is just excited to start living again and enjoying every precious moment," Jenna says. "We wanted to come out of this stronger people with more appreciation for each other and the world – and that's exactly what happened."
